National Chengchi University Master Program of Middle Eastern and Central Asian Studies

1. Conference Objectives

To encourage undergraduate and graduate students in Taiwan to engage in research on Islamic and Middle Eastern issues, a group of scholars in related fields has jointly organized the "Student Conference on Islamic and Middle Eastern Regional Studies" since 2019. We are now calling for submissions for the 8th conference and warmly welcome enthusiastic master’s, doctoral, and undergraduate students to submit their papers.

3. Paper Submission Guidelines

The submission process consists of three steps: abstract submission, abstract review and selection, and full paper submission.

• Abstract Submission:

Interested applicants must submit a proposal by Friday, October 16, 2026. The proposal must include the paper title (which must not have been previously presented at academic conferences or published in journals), a 500-word abstract, and keywords, along with the author’s full name, affiliated university, department, academic grade, and contact details. Please send the document in Microsoft Word format to hpbao@ncnu.edu.tw (Email Subject: "Submission for the 8th Student Conference on Islamic and Middle Eastern Regional Studies").

• Review and Notification:

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by experts. Notification of selection results will be sent via email by Monday, October 26, 2026. 

• Full Paper Submission:

Accepted authors must submit their full papers by 5:00 PM, Friday, December 25, 2026, for review by discussants. Late submissions will not be accepted. The recommended length of the paper is between 8,000 and 10,000 Chinese characters (including footnotes and references).
