On May 7, 2026, our program hosted a seminar at Dao Fan Building featuring Kazakh scholar Samal Kanayeva. Speaking from Kazakhstan’s perspective, she highlighted the nation’s role at the crossroads of Eurasia, with over 20 million people and an economy driven by oil, gas, and uranium. China stands as its largest trade partner, Russia controls energy routes, while the U.S. re‑engages through investment and diplomacy. The “Middle Corridor” emerges as a new pathway, strongly backed by the EU. Resources bring prosperity but also dependence and risk, underscoring Kazakhstan’s pivotal place in global geopolitics. The seminar concluded with a spirited Q&A, followed by personal exchanges between students and the speaker—an engaging finale to the event.
