War photography is not only about capturing moments in the lens, but also about recording history and witnessing human emotions. We are honored to invite the famous Turkish war correspondent, photojournalist and documentary producer Coşkun Aral for this speech to share his personal experience in global war zones and witness the cruelty of war and the glory of humanity through his lens. Coşkun Aral was born in Siirt, Türkiye in 1956 and is of Arab and Kurdish descent. His career began in 1974, initially working at the newspapers Günaydın and Gün. He became famous in 1977 with his photography of the Labor Day events on January 1, and began reporting on major conflicts around the world for international media such as Time, Newsweek and L‵Express. He subsequently covered major events such as the workers‵ strike in Gdańsk, Poland, the Iran-Iraq war, and the December 12 military coup in Türkiye. As a war correspondent, Coşkun has traveled to conflict zones in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, and has received high recognition from international media and industry. During the event, the speakers generously shared their experiences of participating in these events in the past. The interaction with students was very lively.
